In order to let the students have a better understanding of the the world machinery frontier development and broaden their horizons, the " The Mechanical Frontier Lecture " of School of Mechanical Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University was successfully held in Yang Hua Lecture Hall of Emei Campus at 20:00 on October 23, 2020.This lecture invited Qian Linmao, dean of School of Mechanical Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University, and Mo Jiliang, tutor of Youqing, as the keynote speakers. More than 300 people listened to this lecture.
On behalf of the school, Dean Qian Linmao first conveyed cordial greetings to all the teachers and students of the Department of Transportation Equipment and Control Engineering, and made a detailed introduction to the current situation and development prospect of the mechanical major. Then, combining with the current situation and development prospect of the manufacturing industry, Dean Qian introduced the topic -- " Micro and Nano advanced manufacturing frontier" from the background, major demand, development status and challenges. Dean Qian first introduced the core members and typical achievements of his team. Then, based on a large number of examples, the application background, development direction, manufacturing method and basic theory of micro-nano manufacturing are summarized and demonstrated by means of various ways and from different perspectives. In addition, Dean Qian emphasized again the present situation and challenges, and asked all the students adhering to the Southwest Jiaotong University spirit "cultivating talents to rejuvenate the Chinese nation, constantly striving to become stronger", carrying forward the spirit of School of Mechanical Engineering " profound virtues, persevering practice, diligent and peaceful", aiming high, working hard and working together, for achieving the highest peak of machinery.
Combining with the brief history of high-speed railway development, Professor Mo Jiliang introduced the topic from the perspective of historical construction -- "Study on tribology and dynamics of safety service of key equipment and parts of high-speed railway" .Professor Mo made summary statement from the research background and professional technology of braking and line-pantograph systems. Mo said that the freshmen and sophomores students were in the enlightenment period of the academic career. The students should firmly establish professional knowledge, actively build psychological process, develop self-discipline, upward, innovative behavior habits. Professor Mo had an in-depth exchange of views with the students and provided important guidance. His language was lively, humorous and philosophical, which benefited all the students. Finally, Professor Mo gave an in-depth interpretation of the spirit “cultivating talents to rejuvenate the Chinese nation” to all the students, taught everyone to “yearn for the vast sea” and to be the inheritor of the spirit of Southwest Jiaotong University.
Finally, students in the auditorium actively raised questions, communicated with the two professors on the content of the lecture, and took a photo with them. The whole lecture came to an end in the warm applause of the students. The students said that they had gained a lot from the lecture, had a more comprehensive understanding of the frontier development of machinery, broadened their horizon, deeply appreciated the core connotation of the spirit of Southwest Jiaotong University, and would surely remember the earnest teachings of Dean Qian and Professor Mo.
