In order to comprehensively promote the undergraduate education and teaching work, improve the design of the training program, and promote the linkage of theoretical teaching and experimental teaching, the School of Mechanical Engineering held an undergraduate teaching liaison work meeting at 9 am on December 1, 2020 in the conference room 1404 in Jiuli campus. Tian Huaiwen and Zeng Donghong, vice-deans of the college, directors and persons in charge of teaching and research sections of various departments, and laboratory directors and persons in charge attended the joint working meeting. The meeting was presided over by Tian Huaiwen.
Tian Huaiwen first introduces the background of the undergraduate teaching contact work meeting. The theoretical teaching and experimental teaching complement each other in the cultivation of undergraduate talents. With the reform of experimental teaching, In the future, it will gradually realize the transformation of instructors in charge of in-class experiments, so theoretical teachers need to understand the school's relevant policies on laboratory teaching, which will lay the foundation for future curriculum reforms.
Zeng Donghong made arrangements around the revision of the experimental curriculum syllabus, laboratory teaching inspections, laboratory safety, and preparations for the relocation of No. 2 Jiuli Building. She mentioned that the experimental teaching mode should gradually realize the integration of online and offline, and the integration of Chengdu and Emei, and actively give play to the supporting role of experimental teaching in the construction of double 10,000 majors and first-class courses. She encouraged the laboratories of various departments to actively carry out the integration of personalized experiments, key laboratory open projects, science and technology competitions, curriculum design, and graduation design, to lay the foundation for the application of first-class virtual simulation experiment teaching courses.
Tian Huaiwen then made arrangements for the application of teaching achievement awards and topic selection for graduation design. The directors and persons in charge of each department discussed on the selection of the graduation design and reached a consensus on the dual tutor system for the graduation design. The college will continue to promote the selection and recruitment of off-campus corporate tutors to join the graduate tutor team. By improving the selection and hiring system of off-campus tutors, and implementing the appointment and management of off-campus tutors, it will realize the joint guidance by both inside and outside tutors, expand the content of graduation design engineering practice, and improve graduation design quality.
The joint working conference of undergraduate teaching has played an important role as a bridge to communicate with various departments, discussing new problems in teaching together, clarifying the direction of undergraduate teaching reform, and improving undergraduate teaching quality.
