To celebrate the 123th anniversary of the establishment of Southwest Jiaotong University and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the mechanical discipline, the "Mechanical Engineering Discipline Development Seminar" hosted by the School of Mechanical Engineering was held in the meeting room of Furong Building of Jinniu Hotel on the evening of May 17.
The experts attending the seminar include: Researcher Fellow Hai Jintao, former president of the Academy of Mechanical Sciences, Researcher Fellow Lei Yuanzhong, former director of the mechanical subject of the National Natural Science Foundation Committee, Professor Jia Zhenyuan, Vice president of Dalian University of technology, Professor Chen Xuefeng, Dean of school of mechanical engineering of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Gao Haibo, Deputy Dean of school of mechanical engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology, Professor Sun Tao, Deputy Dean of school of mechanical engineering of Tianjin University, Professor Du Yongping, Secretary of school of mechanical, electronic and control engineering of Beijing Jiaotong University, Professor He Hongwen, Deputy Dean of school of mechanical engineering of Beijing Institute of Technology, Professor Guo Feng, Dean of School of mechanical & automotive engineering of Qingdao University of technology, Professor Zhou Zhongrong, Vice president of Southwest Jiaotong University, Professor Qian Linmao, Dean of school of mechanical engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University, Wang Wenjian, Researcher Fellow of Southwest Jiaotong University. Relevant college leaders and student representatives also attended the seminar. The seminar was chaired by Professor Zhou Zhongrong, Vice president of Southwest Jiaotong University.
Professor Zhou Zhongrong, Vice president of Southwest Jiaotong University, delivered a speech at the meeting on behalf of the school, introduced the leaders and experts present at the meeting, and extended a warm welcome to the leaders and experts present at the meeting. Professor Qian Linmao, Dean of school of mechanical engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University, reported on the status of mechanical engineering disciplines of Southwest Jiaotong University, including the establishment, development history, current situation and future goals of school of mechanical engineering of Southwest Jiao Tong University. The main achievements, scientific research platform, talent training and professional situation of the mechanical subject were introduced in detail.
Under the opportunity of the national strategic development of the “Belt and Road” and the construction of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway to take advantage of the mechanical discipline of Southwest Jiaotong University, learn from the experience of brother colleges and universities through this seminar, and strive to achieve good results in the upcoming discipline assessment; Finally, the arrangement of the mechanical century was introduced.
All the experts fully affirmed the development of the mechanical engineering discipline in Southwest Jiaotong university and congratulated the 100th anniversary of the establishment of mechanical discipline. Combined with the industry characteristics of rail transit, Researcher Fellow Hai Jintao suggested to focus on safety, strengthen the strength of the mechanical manufacturing discipline, and meet the development needs of the real economy, so as to improve the overall strength of the mechanical discipline of the college. Researcher Fellow Lei Yuanzhong proposed that the school of mechanical engineering could continue to strengthen the traditional advantages of rail transit. The college should attract more outstanding talents at home and abroad to train more influential talents, and to help the strength and discipline development of the school of mechanical engineering. Professor Jia Zhenyuan suggested to maintain the traditional advantages of rail transit continually, and then move forward to new frontier disciplines, such as combining digitalization and intelligence. He also suggested that the school of mechanical engineering could proceed from the basic research, such as the high-speed railway bearing involving multiple basic disciplines, use the traditional advantages of rail transit, combine the strong scientific research strength of tribology research, to promote the great progress and development. Professor Chen Xuefeng introduced the reform measures of the school of mechanical engineering of Xi'an Jiaotong University, focusing on personnel reform in order to obtain more personnel rights. Professor Gao Haibo believes that the school of mechanical engineering should continue to maintain the traditional advantages of rail transit and ensure the development of discipline construction through the improvement of scientific research platforms. Professor Guo Feng affirmed the scientific research strength and achievements of the school of mechanical engineering in more than 100 years, congratulated the Centennial birthday of the mechanical discipline of Southwest Jiaotong University, and finally wished the mechanical discipline of Southwest Jiaotong University to strive for success in the next discipline evaluation.
Finally, Professor Zhou Zhongrong, Vice president of Southwest Jiaotong University, made a summary of the seminar and thanked the leaders and experts for their suggestions. He suggested that the school of mechanical engineering should actively absorb the suggestions of the experts, work hard together with the teachers and students, and continue to write new brilliance for the construction and development of the mechanical engineering discipline of Southwest Jiaotong University.
