Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering
The Department of Building and Energy Engineering is mainly engaged in solving the energy and environment problems in civil, industry, medical, transportation and aerospace, creating healthy and comfortable thermal and humid environment, air quality environment and sound and light environment, minimizing the energy and resource consumption of buildings and ensuring the coordinated development of national construction and natural environment. Associating with the advantage of the field of traffic buildings in our university, this department has been engaged in both fundamental and practical research related to the environment control of tunnel and subway, air conditioning of vehicles, ventilation and air conditioning in tall and large space buildings, fire safety and solar energy application. It has the 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center of Building Energy Conservation and Green Building, Engineering Laboratory of Green Living Environment Control and Energy Efficient Utilization (Sichuan), and Sichuan Youth Science and Technology Innovation Research Team for Building Environment and Energy Efficient Utilization. At the same time, the international journal named Energy and Built Environment (EBE) and the 1st International Conference for Global Chinese Academia on Energy and Built Environment are established.
The Department of Building and Energy Engineering currently has 20 full-time teachers and experiment teachers, including 4 professors and 3 associated professors. It has a scientific research team with substantial research directions and organizational knowledge structure. Professor Yuan Yanping, the dean of the department, is a doctoral tutor and vice dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering. He is a national candidate of Millions of Talents Project, Outstanding Mid-Aged Expert, Outstanding Talents in the new century of the Ministry of Education, Academic and Technical Leaders in Sichuan Province, building environment and energy efficient use, Sichuan Youth Science and Technology Innovation Team, the Head of 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center of Building Energy Conservation and Green Building and Engineering Laboratory of Green Living Environment Control and Energy Efficient Utilization (Sichuan), and the Secretary General of Sichuan Association of Refrigeration.
In terms of teaching, the Department of Building and Energy Engineering is responsible for the daily teaching of the professional course and the professional basic course related to this major, and the professional basic course for other majors in the School of Mechanical Engineering.
In terms of scientific research, we attach importance to the coordinated development of basic theoretical research, applied research, and independent innovation development research, and also persist in exploring novel methods to combine industry, university and research efficiently. In recent years, it has undertaken more than 21 national natural science foundations (including one key project), 52 provincial and ministerial-level projects and important military projects. This department has achieved a series of scientific research results that won national and provincial awards of scientific and technological progress, including 2 First-Class Award for the Science and Technology Progress of Sichuan Province, and 1 First-Class Award for the Science and Technology Progress of Chinese Association of Refrigeration, 1 ELFORSK Prize of Danske Energi, and etc. The department is eligible to grant master's and doctoral degrees. So far, more than 400 students, including post-doctoral, doctoral, and master, have been trained. The main research directions are:
(1) Ventilation technology in the tunnel and the underground space
(2) Fire safety and smoke control
