Tribology Research Institute
Development history:
In March 1982, the Department of mechanics of Southwest Jiaotong University set up the "Tribology Laboratory" and in February 1997 established the Tribology Research Institute. After nearly 40 years of development, the Tribology Research Institute has an experimental / office area of 1500m2, more than 80 sets of research equipment, with a total value of more than 40 million yuan. It is an important part of the State Key Laboratory of traction power and the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of material education. In addition, we have built the Southwest Jiaotong University - China Railway Industry shield / TBM tribology design laboratory and Southwest Jiaotong University - Masteel - Panzhihua Iron and steel wheel and rail Research Institute Center with central enterprises. The research institute is mainly engaged in basic research and application basic research on high-end equipment tribology theory and technology, bio tribology and bionic manufacturing, fretting wear and fretting fatigue, micro nano tribology and micro nano manufacturing, railway tribology, etc. It has undertaken a large number of important scientific research tasks including NSFC innovation group / key / key instrument projects, national key R & D projects and national defense 973 project.
Team style:
At present, the Institute of tribology has 23 permanent employees, including 16 professors, 5 associate professors and 2 lecturers. The researchers have multi-disciplinary backgrounds in machinery, materials, chemistry and mechanics. The Institute has 5 distinguished professors of Yangtze River scholars from the Ministry of education, 4 Outstanding Young scholars from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 2 scientific and technological innovation leading talents of the "ten thousand talents program" of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, and many talents of the "Tianfu Ten Thousand Talents Program" of Sichuan Province. At present, there are more than 300 postgraduate students and 8 postdoctoral students in the insititute.
Achievement highlights:
The team has undertaken more than 80 national level projects such as NSFC innovation group project, key project / key instrument project, national key R & D Program (topic), 973 project, national defense 973 project, and more than 100 horizontal projects. More than 100 scientific and technological journal papers are published every year.The research on the second prize of National Natural Science Award in 2006, and won the first prize of Natural Science Award of the Ministry of education in 2012 and 2018
